Matt and Nikki
A Wedding On The Shore Of The Zambezi River // The Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

We loved documenting Matt and Nikki's wedding at The Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. Matt and Nikki are pretty cool and down to earth and we hit it off immediately. It's rad to photograph clients that feel like new friends. Matt and Nikki are both from Australia, although Nikki is originally from South Africa, and they both love travelling. Nikki is also a travel agent and so it made sense that they chose to have a destination wedding - and Zimbabwe was one helluva choice. We loved everything about this wedding, but our best thing was probably the fact that Nikki wore her grandmothers dress, the same dress her mom also got married in. She pulled it off proper and with such vibe and together with dapper Matt, they both looked like they stepped straight out of the 1920's. Their ceremony was held aboard the Zambezi Explorer, surrounded by everyone they love, in a very informal way and after the ceremony their guests got whisked away on a sunset cruise. We got to explore the Vic Falls Hotel with Matt and Nikki and then headed off to the reception, which was held on the shore of the Zambezi River. As we're sure you can imagine, and as you'll see from the pictures, these Australians were not shy to get their dancing shoes out and we couldn't help but party with them, cameras in hand, under the starry african sky :) We spent the next day sipping cocktails on the verandah of the Vic Falls Hotel with Matt and Nikki and their guests, who all at this stage also felt like new friends - what a fun crowd - and then set off to explore the Vic Falls. More of those pictures in our next entry! The Victoria Falls are really quite something, if you ever have the chance to go, we highly recommend it. They are one of the natural wonders of the world, described by the famous explorer Dr. Livingstone as "scenes so lovely they must have been gazed upon by angels in flight." A little corny, but true. We felt super lucky to have travelled there to shoot Matt and Nikki's wedding and are grateful for a job that gets us out into the world, meeting rad people like Matt and Nikki, and travelling to amazing places like the Vic Falls.
